Family Literacy

Empowering Families, Enriching Futures

The Family Literacy Program is designed to support families with children from Pre-K to 6th grade by providing essential resources and learning opportunities. This unique, research-based program focuses on parent engagement, English language skills, and practical strategies to support children's education at home.

Our Family Literacy Program offers a comprehensive approach to parent involvement in their child's education. The program includes:

English Language Learning

Parents can enhance their English speaking, reading, and writing skills in our adult ESL classes.

How Does the Program Work?

The Family Literacy Program integrates parents into their child's educational experience in the following ways.

Classroom Participation

Parents spend part of their time in their child's classroom and part in the Adult ESL classroom.

Parent and Child Together (PACT) Time

During PACT Time, parents work alongside their children in class, observing and practicing learning strategies modeled by teachers. This hands-on approach helps parents support their child's learning at home.

Active Learning

Parents are active learners, engaging directly with the same material as their children to better understand and support their education.
